The National Retail Federation reports that Halloween continues to grow in importance amongst adults and children. Crafting opportunities abound and retailers who promote a wide range of projects that are harvest-season related, extending beyond All Hallows Eve will encourage crafting for Thanksgiving as well.
Palette
Orange, royal purple and green is the newest- consider how the non-seasonal prints may work for Mardi Gras as well. Also the traditional orange and black refreshed with gray and white.
Trends
Paper and embellishment collections that feature traditional Halloween themes of jack-o-lanterns, witches, bats and ghosts but the coordinates will transcend the season allowing customers to invest in papers with more “mileage.”
Some vendors have gone with a more autumnal/harvest season approach. These collections featured autumn leaves, pumpkins and stylized wildflowers. These collections transition especially well into Thanksgiving so consider projects that do dual duty as Halloween and Thanksgiving décor with a little bit of sprucing.
Take a look at all of the product featuring friendly owl images and trees that were so hot at CHA-Winter and look at how you can make them new again with a harvest owl twist.
Projects
Candy bag packaging- demonstrate rubber stamping on paper or acetate bags, creating bag toppers for cellophane bags. Show bags tied with ribbons and coordinating tags and embellishments
Table Top Décor-Colorful die cut leaves look beautiful strewn along a table. Customers can cut their own with dies you sell- or fill in down time by doing the cutting and selling packages of pre-cut leaves. Die cuts also can be attached to wooden sticks and tucked into plants as a decorative element.
Decorated Baskets and Treat bags-Embellishments, stamping, die cuts and even fabrics printed with digital images also work as functional décor.
Cards-Folks will be looking for ideas for cards and especially party invitations.
